Been using GA Cycles for years on and off. I started using them when they first opened - must have been 20 years ago - as I lived relatively nearby. I've been more intermittent in recent years purely because I cycle much less and I no longer live anywhere near the shop. But every time I have been there, the service has been brilliant. Gary and his staff are bike enthusiasts, they know their stuff and they're bend-over backwards helpful. As an example, they keep a box of spare cantilever brake springs, which they've rescued from broken brake assemblies, because they know it's expensive and difficult or impossible to source spares for older brakes from the likes of Shimano. That, to me, is the sign of a shop that wants to help customers rather than just make money.
GACycles is probably the greatest specialist cycle shop in Southampton. For years the shop has been above its competitors in both quality of service and provision of specialist products. Their new website is a great asset to the shop and demonstrates how useful the shop is to all those from commuters to work to professional cyclists.
Great shop and great staff.
Always willing to go out of their way to help, it doesn't matter if you're buying a new bike or a £5 item. It's just a shame the shop isn't bigger!! Their workshop is second to none, it's worthwile a couple of days off the bike while these guys repair or upgrade your bike. It will come back like new.
